Useful Information

Age groups/traveling with children
Botswana is suitable for all ages . However, certain areas and activities are not suitable for children under 12. In the same way, most safari companies and Lodge do not have an upper age limit but care should be taken when deciding which style you are considering. Contact us with the age group and we will help you choose the right options.

Health
As with every where in Southern Africa, normal health vaccinations and precautions should be taken. Consult your doctor or nearest Heath clinic for details.

When to visit Botswana.
The main tourist season is from June until October, African winter, which is dry season. Temperatures are moderate, Game viewing is excellent and the Okavango Delta is ‘in flood’ with plenty of channels to explore!

November to May is considered low season but we think of it as our best kept secret with the rains starting in November through to March, the scenery is lush and green, birdlife is at its best. Places like the Magadikgadi Pans and central Kalahari are particularly good at this time of year.

The majority of areas tend to be a lot quieter at this time of year with less tourist traffic, most companies offer “Green Season Specials” at this time of year- so this is worth considering if you want to pick up a bargain!

Places to start and finish safaris – see flight schedules below

Maun : From a basic outpost , this has now become a bustling large town and is generally the main starting or finishing point for most Moremi, Chobe & Okavango Delta, Camping and Lodge safaris.

Kasane in the north West pocket, close to the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, safaris can either start or finish here.

Pre and Post safari accommodation at Motsentsela Tree Lodge.

For all our safari itineraries – we recommend that you start or finish your safari at our Lodge in Maun – Motsentsela Tree Lodge. The Lodge is set on a 200 hectare game farm and has comfortable and stylish tented and chalet accommodation. There are 3 marked walking trails or guests to explore and view the game which consists of giraffe, zebra, gemsbok, springbok, ostrich, impala, kudu and prolific bird life.
